RAL COLOURS publishes trend report RAL COLOUR FEELING 2023+

The new colour palette for 2023+ titled SHARE+APPLY defines 15 colour tones for physical and digital applications in architecture, design, craft and industry.

On October 14th, RAL COLOURS published its new trend report RAL COLOUR FEELING 2023+. It offers designers a stimulating design tool that not only inspires in the short term, but also facilitates project work in the longer term. The key to adaptable design for a wide range of applications lies in the simple combinability of the new colours. The inspiring colour matrix provides versatile impulses for atmospheric and function-oriented colouring of the physical and virtual environment. The new trend report was developed as part of RAL´s long-standing cooperation with the Institute International Trendscouting at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany.

SHARE + APPLY is adapted to a contemporary aesthetic that enables combinations with longer-term added value. The colour palette for 2023+ is deliberately intended as a further development. Three shades from the previous year have been carried over to make it even easier to complement existing design elements. The 15 colours of the SHARE + APPLY colour world combine natural and digital-looking nuances for the functional and atmospheric design of physical and virtual products, spaces and collections. It is increasingly important for companies to develop hybrid designs, because virtual worlds influence people's aesthetic preferences in real life as well.

The natural-looking shades of this year's trend report are inspired by algae and earth colours. Its more artificial tones, on the other hand, reflect the upbeat mood and stimulating creativity of the Metaverse. The new colour palette expresses the spirit of the times: in addition to social challenges, climate and environmental protection are more important than ever before. Accordingly, nature-inspired tones remain essential. In parallel, the development of the Metaverse and Web 3.0 stimulates free creativity and bold innovation: Reinforced by the experiences from the pandemic, higher saturated nuances gain importance online and offline. Maximalism and Dopamine Decor (the deliberate use of vivid colours and contrasts to increase energy and joie de vivre) have arrived among broad sections of society.

In line with the RAL COLOUR FEELING 2023+, the German colour experts will be presenting another new product for the first time this year, the RAL Trend Box. This translates the trend colours into different materials and invites you to experiment with colour and material. The high-quality box was developed in cooperation with the material partners Covestro, Object Carpet and TIGER Coatings as well as the bdia – Association of German interior Architects. It provides creative people with a total of 60 material samples for creating mood boards and collages.

Further background information on the trend report, press material, suggestions, assistance and professional design tools are available on the RAL COLOURS website. There, the RAL COLOUR FEELING colour palettes can be downloaded free of charge in various file formats for integration into many design and CAD programmes.
