The world of colour for future-oriented design
“reThink + Create”: The world of colour from RAL COLOUR FEELING 2021 will motivate designers and people working in the field of architecture. New interpersonal living spaces will be created because of the blurring of the borders between private and professional life, action and regeneration, global and neutral. The new 15-part colour space will give you incentives to design these living spaces through the corresponding colour combinations in a future-oriented way. While doing so, reThink refers to the debate on these current issues of our time – in particular how we wish to live and work in the future – and the colours associated with this. Create is the call to everyone involved with design to integrate this world of colour into their projects.
The aim of RAL COLOUR FEELING 2021 is not solely to define colours which are fashionable. On the contrary, it’s about developing a current to future-oriented colour profile, which opens up design possibilities, instead of restricting them. The colours are based on the assessment of the social, technical and design trends of the last 50 years. They also take fundamental design categories and detailed studies on the effect and perception of colour into account. Once again, this year the RAL COLOUR FEELING 2021+ trend report is the result of the close collaboration between RAL FARBEN and the Institute International Trendscouting at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim.
In view of the increasing significance of sustainability, design is now required to be easily combinable and have longevity. reThink therefore encourages the creation of spaces and products, which generate added value. The colour range is incorporated in the modern RAL Design System plus and is an invitation to feel, reflect, rethink and combine freely. Discreet colours and sensuous surfaces create a balance to the digitalisation and sensory overload of everyday life. Matt shades reminiscent of lime paint and chromatic shadowy tones result in varied harmonies, whereby shade-in-shade combinations modulate empty spaces discreetly. Light to medium tonalities give the colour space lightness and stability simultaneously. The materials also provide strength and sensitivity. Overall, reThink stands for colour handling which is easy to implement and has a human touch.
